Natalie Gelman Shines With Her Newly Released Music Video "The Lion"

Gearing Up For The Release of Her Highly Anticipated New Album Natalie Gelman Releases An Empowering Music Video

"Female empowerment and social issues have always inspired me," says Gelman

New York City born-and-raised modern day troubadour Natalie Gelman’s highly anticipated upcoming album may be still untitled, but the multi-talented singer/songwriter just released a very special and fierce video for ‘The Lion’.

Gelman, who tours regularly throughout the U.S., is releasing her new LP in 2017 —a twelve track set produced by Charlie Midnight (James Brown) as a follow up to her previous autobiographical nod to her humble beginnings as a street performer in NYC, which included “busking” in the subway.

Raised in the old West Village stomping ground of numerous songwriting greats, Gelman—who has been compared favorably to Jewel, Sheryl Crow and Joni Mitchell--grew up amidst artists and true bohemians. She borrowed a friend’s guitar at 16, began composing songs on it immediately and began busking on subway platforms when she grew tired of pretending to be 21 to play clubs in the city.
Captivating tourists and straphangers alike in the subway, Gelman stopped even the most hurried commuters in their tracks with her powerful voice. She continues to play what she calls her favorite stage while also performing at the House of Blues, Webster Hall and festivals across the country. In its four star review, The New York Post, echoing many publications across the country, raved “Simply Terrific.”

The Lion’ is a fan favorite and was written with Midnight, co-writer of ‘Living in America’ by James Brown. Midnight said of the video:

"Brilliant! Chilling! Scary! Timely! A femme fatale if there ever was one!"

Midnight and Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac) produced the song while the video was directed and produced with award winning filmmakers Brent Florence and Danielle Brandwein.

Natalie wanted to use the song to create awareness on some of the issues she cares about.

"I wanted to get people thinking about what they believe and why. To gently encourage folks to see and consider things they may have put up blinders to."

The video is especially timely while we are so divided as a country; it nods to many social, political, environmental, human rights and other issues.

Natalie is available for interviews or anything else you would like her to contribute.
